These are theoretical as well as historical questions\, especially in the nineteenth century\, a period of rapid development of historicisms\, prosodic systems\, and the global spread of English. Beginning in 2002 with a conference on “The Traffic in Poems\,” the historical poetics group has been dedicated to individual and collaborative critical explorations of Anglophone poetry from the long nineteenth century\, considered in a transatlantic and broadly comparative framework. DESCRIPTION:Oct 18 – 21 \, 2018 \nThe biennial Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival is the largest poetry event in North America. This four-day celebration of poetry has been called “poetry heaven” by former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Hass\, “a new Woodstock” by the Christian Science Monitor\, and simply “Wordstock” by The New York Times. Since 2010\, The Poetry Festival has called Newark’s Downtown Arts District its home. \nThe Festival\, held in even-numbered years since 1986\, immerses audiences and nearly five dozen internationally acclaimed poets in readings and conversations focusing on poetry. Events are held all day and evening in performance spaces accommodating anywhere from 100 to 2\,000 people.
