Esther Schor
Strange Nursery: Poems
Wednesday, April 18th @ 6.00PM
Location: Labyrinth Books, Princeton
More Info

Esther Schor‘s new poems wrestle with history, myth, devils, angels, and the self. We invite you to come hear her read.

The worldly poetry in Strange Nursery confirms the holiness of all living things. This is poetry about savage nativity scenes, the martyrization of rats, hope, passions. Included is a poem that stands, according to Harold Bloom, “as one of a handful of major American longer poems, of middle length, of the last half-century.”

Esther Schor is a poet and Professor of English at Princeton. She won the 2006 National Jewish Book Award. Her books include The Hills of Holland: Poems, Emma Lazarus, and Bearing the Dead: The British Culture of Mourning from the Enlightenment to Victoria.
