Featuring masterful performers who stretch the possibilities of voice and cadence, and curations pairing selections and poet by Afrodiasporic historian-Dj Cooper Libre, ‘The Mouth of the Root’ is where poetry dances with music, protest, and play. It is a reminder that long before we wrote it down, we said it out loud. This is the oral tradition – alive, pulsing, and still making new memory from the old.
