Showcase Reading: Eduardo C. Corral & Benjamin Garcia

Guggenheim fellow Eduardo C. Corral, author of Guillotine (Graywolf Press, 2020) and award-winning debut poet Benjamin Garcia, author of Thrown in the Throat (Milkweed Editions, 2020) come together to read and discuss the work they published during the pandemic. This event is presented with generous support from the Battery Park City Authority.

About the Authors:

Eduardo CCorral is the son of Mexican immigrants. He’s the author of Guillotine, published by Graywolf Press, and Slow Lightning, which won the 2011 Yale Series of Younger Poets Competition. He’s the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Lannan Foundation Literary Fellowship, a Whiting Writers’ Award, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, and a Hodder Fellowship from Princeton University. He teaches in the MFA program at North Carolina State University.

Benjamin Garcia is a 2023 NEA Fellow in Poetry. His first collection Thrown in the Throat, was selected for the National Poetry Series, the Eugene Paul Nassar Poetry Prize, and as a finalist for the Kate Tufts Discovery Award. A CantoMundo and Lambda Literary fellow, he teaches at Alma College’s low-residency MFA program. His poems and essays have appeared in: AGNI, American Poetry Review, Kenyon Review, and elsewhere. He is at work on a multimedia project exploring neurodivergence.
