The Ninth Annual Sarah Lawrence College Poetry Festival

The Ninth Annual Sarah Lawrence College Poetry Festival, which will be held on April 20 to 22, 2012 at the Sarah Lawrence College campus in Bronxville, New York, is the largest free poetry festival in New York State. Entirely student-run, the festival will feature some 16 leading poets including 2011 National Book Award winner, Nikky Finney.

Readings by winners of the SLC High School Poetry Competition, followed by poets Suzanne Gardinier, Monica de la Torre, and Bernadette Mayer, will start off the festival on Friday evening.

Saturday will feature a book fair including various small presses and book shops. Afternoon readers will include Craig Dworkin, Kevin Pilkington, Farrah Field, Joshua Marie Wilkinson and Vievee Francis. On Saturday evening, there will be a dinner reception for all festival goers, followed by a reading by Rachel McKibbens. The evening will conclude with readings by John Whitworth and Caroline Bergvall.

Sunday’s program includes a panel discussion and readings by Mathias Svalina, Ben Lerner, Nikky Finney, Rachel Eliza Griffiths and Li-Young Lee. LUMINA, the annual literary journal featuring the work of SLC graduate students, will also be launching its latest issue with Michael Klein.
